NOTE: when compiling a baby gift registry there are a few basic rules you should follow:

Boring Essentials: Don’t be afraid to include all those boring nuts and bolts of babydom, such as burp cloths, dribble rags and nappies. These gifts may not be as glamorous as the sterling silver variety but they are definitely something you will use on a daily basis.

Price Range: Try to include options for all budgets or those who are not immediate family or not in your close circle of friends.

Partial Purchase: This can be ideal if you have a group of close friends who would all like to pitch in on a bigger or more expensive item such as a pram, cot or other nursery furniture. Won’t break their banks but definitely saves you a few pennies on getting those pricey essentials!

Treats for Mum and Dad: Don’t feel guilty about selecting a few relaxing or special treats for yourself. These gifts could include a massage, spa treatment, or maternity clothes.

Duplicates: Selecting the same item twice can be a good idea, especially if you know baby will be spending time at another location, such as at the grandparents or when on holiday.

Think Ahead: A complete baby gift registry usually contains items for baby’s first year, but don’t be afraid to include items that may be useful for a little later on.
